Why Series Scoring?
A single regatta or a single day of club racing determines a winner based on a day or two of racing, but a series introduces a more comprehensive measure of a skipper’s ability, spread over a season or year. Any given club or class will have their own objectives and priorities as they set up ranking, but ezRegatta PRO has many options which help meet typical objectives that may drive their choice of scoring method.
Creating a Series
In ezRegatta, select the "Series" Tab, bottom left on an iPhone, top left on some iPads.
There will already be at least one series in the list shown, initially called "Standalone Regattas". Any regattas you already created in ezRegatta prior to upgrading to Version 2 will be placed in the series, and the series is shown in gray to indicate that it cannot be deleted.
To create a new series click the "+" at the top right and a series will be created and displayed with the name of "New" on the Series Details page.
The "Series Settings" button will allow you to change the name, and select options for scoring calculations.
The SCORING section shows a summary of the current settings, and a button to display the results for the season. This button will not be active until all the regattas in the series have no un-scored races.
See Selecting Scoring Options for a Series for more details.
The COMPETITORS section shows the number of competitors in the series and has a button to display them. ezRegatta scans all the regattas in the series and assumes any skipper with the exact same name is a single competitor.
See Managing Competitors for more details.
The REGATTAS section shows a list and count of regattas that are included in the series.
To add a brand new regatta, go to the Regattas tab, which only shows regattas in the current series, and add a regatta as usual.
To add an existing regatta to the series, tap the button "Include/Exclude Regattas for Series" and all regattas in your ezRegatta will be shown with buttons to include them or remove them from the series. If you remove them they will be placed in the default (usually "Standalone Regattas" series. You will not be able to remove them from the default series this way of course. You would need to delete them from the regattas tab, or move them into another Series on that series' Details page.
