What are "Competitors" vs "Skippers"?
Skippers are added to regattas in ezRegatta, and are only relevant to that regatta. To score or Rank a series of regattas ezRegatta creates Competitors who are skippers who have competed in one or more of the regattas in a series.
Competitors are unique to a specific series. - Skippers are unique to a specific regatta
Creating competitors is automatic, as ezRegatta assumes skippers with exactly the same name(s) are actually a single competitor in the series. This works perfectly unless a skipper has registered under a different name in different regattas, or unless two or more skippers have the same name. To check for those situations and correct them, read on...
Finding and Fixing Competitors
From the Series Details page click on the "Show Competitors" button.
This page shows the competitors based on analysis of the skipper names entered in all the regattas. Tapping or Clicking on any competitor reveals the list of regattas they were entered in as shown for two of them in the example here.
Scanning the list will make it easy to see skippers who were entered under different names such as "Blue Mooner" and "Blue Moaner" here. Tapping the incorrect skipper name will show which regatta the error was made in, and tapping the regattas Tab, then that regatta, and then the skippers tab will allow editing of the name. The competitors list will update automatically when it is next shown.
Two skippers who registered with the same name can usually be identified as they will typically have more regattas, like "Middle Too" in the example, and when the list is revealed it will generally have the same regatta listed twice. Once again, to fix this just navigate to the regattas concerned and this time ensure the skippers' names are unique.
